I’m an unabashed Trump detractor, that’s no secret. I also try to keep my bias in check, and as such even I can see the bias in the media, but… the MSM didn’t start it. Trump started it.
It went something like this: Trump was being an idiot and saying dumb things (and needed a “boogeyman” for his troops to rally around) —> media reported it, showed it, that’s all —> Trump got defensive when he got blow-back from it and created the “fake news” mantra and used blatant public demonizing to try and combat it —> the MSM got defensive themselves and have been retaliating.
Said retaliating has primarily been taking the form of subtle quips and opinionated criticisms during what is supposed to be neutral news reporting. While I usually agree with these remarks, I personally find them undignified in their setting and would prefer they not be done. They are very subtle, but they are there nonetheless.
This all starts with Trump. This is the information age. Cameras are everywhere. If the media broadcasts what Trump says and does, that’s not only NOT their fault, it’s their job. Trump is in control of his own words and actions. If Trump wants to not be portrayed as an idiot, then he himself needs to be mindful of his words and actions and act accordingly. That’s the standard for everyone else. Say or do something stupid, get called on it. There’s no reason that shouldn’t be the standard for Donald Trump.
Then again, maybe he’s relishing the “boogeyman” aspect, and it’s not a story because he purposely created it for his own end.
