Ethnic/gender politics is “The Big Lie” in today’s political world. In Iowa, for example, people used to decry that Iowa was one of two states that had never elected a woman as Governor or Senator (Mississippi was/is the other). The chants, almost exclusively from the left, were deafening (figuratively), “We need a woman representative!”
Be careful what you wish for.
Now we have Joni Ernst as a Senator, an extreme conservative Republican, and there is silence from those who used to complain about our lack of diversity. Granted, they can’t complain because we now have a woman representative, but when you get right down to it, the vast majority of people… especially those on the extremes… truly do not care what ethnicity/gender a person is, they care about the person’s politics and beliefs. So, can we all just stop posturing and pretending that superficial aspects are important?
That is why far-left liberal Democrats will never support a Ben Carson, or an Allen West, for example. I also notice that I have never, literally, known a far-left liberal to cite Thomas Sowell when discussing a political or social issue. Why is that?
